PRP Treatment Q & A
What is PRP therapy?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses your body’s growth factors to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It naturally increases collagen production, giving your skin a smoother and more youthful look.
PRP therapy is minimally invasive and is safe for a variety of areas, including the:
Eyes
Mouth
Cheeks
Neck
Jawline
How does PRP therapy work?
To begin the procedure, Dr. Bushore typically draws a vial of blood. The blood is placed in a centrifuge, where platelets and growth factors, such as fibrin, are separated and collected.
Results become visible in 3-5 weeks, and within 4-7, the maximum benefit is reached. Results may last up to 18 months.
Can PRP therapy help with hair loss?
In some cases, Dr. Bushore and his team can use PRP therapy to stimulate hair growth and thickness. If your hair loss is caused by inactive hair cells, PRP therapy works to energize the cells, improving their health. This, in turn, restores hair growth.
Although multiple treatment sessions are recommended, many patients see results after just one treatment.
What is micro-needling with PRP?
When you want total skin rejuvenation, the team at Balcones Dermatology and Aesthetics combines micro-needling with PRP therapy. Using the innovative Eclipse MicroPen® EVO by Bellus Medical, the only Microneedling device approved by the FDA, we treat a wide range of skin conditions, including:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Scarring
Stretch marks
Dark spots
Melasma
With the Eclipse MicroPen® EVO, our medical aesthetician creates miniature injuries on your skin’s surface, inducing your skin’s natural healing response. This boosts the production of collagen and elastin and makes your skin appear more youthful.
To maximize the procedure further, our aesthetician applies PRP to your skin during the treatment, enhancing your skin’s ability to heal and improve.
If you’re looking for a minimally invasive way to improve the look and feel of your skin, consider PRP therapy. Contact Balcones Dermatology and Aesthetics to learn more about the treatment and schedule your initial consultation. Book your appointment online today.
