Your Ultimate Guide to Dermaplaning

Your Ultimate Guide to Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning can help even skin tone, brighten a dull complexion, and remove unwanted facial hair. This treatment is also an effective way to restore the youthful glow of your skin with minimal downtime.

Balcones Dermatology & Aesthetics provides dermaplaning treatments for adults who are dissatisfied with their skin’s appearance.

Board-certified dermatologist David A. Bushore, MD, provides a comprehensive skin assessment to determine if dermaplaning can help you achieve your goals. He also offers personalized after-care services that help you maintain your results.

An overview of dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a procedure where a licensed medical aesthetician uses a scalpel to gently and painlessly exfoliate superficial facial skin and remove fine hair leaving your skin and complexion brighter and more even.

Balcones Dermatology & Aesthetics licensed medical aesthetician, Kayla Morrison will use a scalpel to shave off skin cells and hair from a specific area of your skin. Kayla can also treat your entire face if you’re looking for more dramatic results.

After your procedure is finished, we apply a soothing serum to your face to lock in moisture and minimize skin irritation and redness. We also recommend that you use a gentle cleanser to remove any residue left on your skin. Avoid harsh cleansers, and/or moisturizers that can irritate your skin.

Skin conditions that dermaplaning can treat

Dermaplaning eliminates unwanted hair from your skin and removes old cells that make your skin look dull. We can also recommend dermaplaning to address the following:

You may be a candidate for dermaplaning if your skin is otherwise healthy. Skin also needs to be free of infection and chronic conditions like eczema and psoriasis to qualify for dermaplaning.

Board-certified dermatologist David A. Bushore, MD, along with licensed medical aesthetician Kayla Morrison, may not recommend dermaplaning if you have a lot of skin tags, moles, or other skin growths. They can suggest other dermatology services, such as facials and microneedling to revitalize your skin if you’re not a candidate for dermaplaning.
